The Jags held control throughout the next two quarters, outscoring the Penguins in each. Although both teams were pretty even at the free throw line, each scoring six in the second quarter, the Jags took the edge shooting 4-for-16 while the Penguins shot 3-for-16.

After leading 39-33 at half, the Jags extended their lead out to 10 points twice in the third quarter. Youngstown State started to inch their way back in with a 6-1 run at 52-46. With just 30 seconds left in the third quarter, Davidson was fouled and sent to the free throw line where she made both shots. After the Jags forced a Youngstown State turnover, Abby Wolterman brought down an offensive rebound and put it back up at the buzzer to extend the Jags' lead back to 10, 56-46.

In the fourth quarter, IUPUI held a 64-58 lead with just a minute left before Youngstown State's Shay-Lee Kirby knocked down a three, to put the Penguins within scratching distance.
