YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The IUPUI men's and women's swim and dive teams finished out the weekend dual meet with a win over Youngstown State on Saturday. The men's team won with a score of 388 to 174 while the women's team defeated the Penguins, 363 to 198.
For the men,
Logan Kelly once again led the way with three individual wins. The junior recorded top times in the 50 breast (25.48), 100 breast (53.36) and the 100 IM (50.77).
Kevin Burke collected two individual wins with top times in the 50 free (20.38) and the 100 free (44.80).
Five other Jags earned first-place finishes for the men's team.
Nathan Rariden (100 free),
Ben Kimmel (100 free),
Spencer Jyawook (100 fly),
Jack Gallob (100 back) and
Luke Dibley (500 free) all recorded wins.
On the women's side, six different Jags clocked top times with
Kate Larsen and
Emmaleigh Zietlow leading the way with two wins each. Larsen earned first in the 200 free (1:55.14) and the 100 free (52.78). Zietlow collected wins in the 500 free (4:58.67) and 100 IM (58.84).
Malayna Mancinelli (50 back),
Lillian Brandt (50 free),
Victoria Surdyka (100 breast) and
Priscilla Zavala (50 fly) all recorded wins for the Jags as well.
On the boards,
Alaina Heyde and
Sebastian Otero led the Jags on day two. Heyde took first in the women's 1-meter dive with a score of 276.30 while
Sadie Smith came in second. Otero led the men's team with a first-place finish in the men's 1-meter dive with a score of 373.58.
Adam Schmehl came in second.
Both the men's and women's teams will be back at the IUPUI Natatorium on January 19 when the men's team hosts Wabash and the women's team will face Butler.
