DAYTON, Ohio - Coming off its most impressive offensive output of the season, the IUPUI women's soccer team will return to action on Thursday (Sept. 7) when the Jaguars take on Dayton on the road at 7:00 p.m. That match will be available on ESPN+.
IUPUI (4-2) recently roared past Tennessee Tech by a 5-2 score, getting goals from five different goal scorers. More impressive was that neither of the team's top two scorers,
Caroline Kelley and
Shannon Ott, were among the goal scorers.
Lindsey Castillo had a goal and an assist and
Leah Shumate had a pair of assists in the win while senior
Jessica Jacobs notched her second score of the year for the game-winner. Senior
Emma Antoine contributed her team-high fourth assist of the season in the victory.
In goal,
Ashton Kudlo worked a scoreless first half before sophomore
Cailynn Junk yielded a pair of second half scores after the Jags had built a 5-0 lead. For the year, Kudlo owns a 0.95 goals against average and .826 save percentage in her six starts.
SCOUTING DAYTON: Dayton enters Thursday's game at 5-0-1 on the season, having outscored foes by an 18-5 margin. The Flyers own wins over Cincinnati and Louisville and played Illinois to a scoreless draw. Noel Blain leads the Flyers with four goals and nine points while six different players have multiple goals. Batoul Reda has played all 540 minutes in goal with a 0.83 goals against average and .861 save percentage.
SCOUTING LINDENWOOD: Lindenwood enters this week at 2-2-1 overall with wins over Chicago State and Murray State. Anna Johnson has a team-high five points while three different players have two goals apiece. Erika Anstine has played all 450 minutes in net with a 1.40 goals against average and .667 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY: IUPUI is 0-0-1 against Dayton as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Dayton in 2021. Sunday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between IUPUI and Lindenwood.
