INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's basketball team defeated Robert Morris on Thursday evening to seal the number three seed and a first round bye in the Horizon League Tournament, 83-69.
Jazmyn Turner led the Jaguar offense with 21 points while senior
Destiny Perkins scored 20.
Rachel Kent added a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
The Jags took the early lead in the first quarter, 21-15 and never gave up the lead. Although the Colonials never took the lead, they never went away keeping it at just eight points at the half, 39-31. In the third quarter, IUPUI held onto the lead with six points to spare, 60-54.
Jaci Jones scored two free throws to seal the win at 83-69 in the four quarter.
Turner led the IUPUI offense with 21 points, adding six rebounds. On senior night,
Destiny Perkins once again showed why she is a key piece in the IUPUI program dropping 20 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Kent added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Natalie Andersen scored 12 points while
Logan Lewis added seven.
With the win the Jaguars end the regular season, 17-12 and 13-7 overall, sealing the number three seed in the Horizon League Championship. IUPUI will next play on March 2
nd in the second round of the tournament.
