FINNEGAN AND HACKAA COMBINE FOR EIGHT POINTS IN DOMINANT ROAD TRIUMPH

Jaguars improve to 4-1-1 in Horizon League play

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The IUPUI men's soccer team garnered its second straight road win Saturday (Oct. 14) night, dismantling the Northern Kentucky defense for a 3-0 victory. Logan Finnegan and Lukas Hackaa led the way offensively for the Jags, registering a combined eight points (3g, 2a).

"I really enjoyed watching us play today. We were resilient defensively, giving nothing away and scoring three beautiful goals," head coach Sid van Druenen said. "I think the guys now know what it takes to win at this level and I am excited to see what we can do in the next couple weeks."

The opening IUPUI (6-5-3, 4-1-1 HL) tally, capped off by a Hackaa screamer from outside the box, was an excellent display of team play, beginning at the back with Lucas Morefield. The ball eventually found its way to Josemir Gomez who held the defender off and found Hackaa who beat goalkeeper Nic Lemen on the near side for his sixth goal of the year.

Twenty minutes later the Jags stretched the lead to two after Finnegan's left-footed rocket found the back of the net. Noah Kummrow began the play by dribbling passed his defender and playing a ball into the feet of Hackaa who switched the play to a wide-open Finnegan on the left side of the field. The Senior slammed the ball towards the net and despite getting a hand to the ball, Lemen was unable to keep it from crossing the line.

The Wheaton, Ill. native would again add his name to the score sheet in the 55th minute, curling a ball from the left wing into the side netting. Hackaa was credited with the assist after Dominic Breidenbach won a battler in the air on a goal kick to get the ball into a dangerous position. The mark propels Finnegan to four goals on the campaign.

On the other side of the ball, the back line was solid, limiting the NKU attacking opportunities and holding the hosts to just two shots on goal—both of which were saved by Morefield, who recorded his third clean sheet of the season.

The Jags, who remain atop the #HLMSOC table with 13 points, now have a week to prepare for its final match in Carroll Stadium next Saturday (Oct. 21) against conference foe Green Bay. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. with the match being streamed on ESPN+.
