WOMEN'S SOCCER MATCH AT USI WASHED OUT DUE TO RAIN

Teams played a scoreless first half before the game was halted

9/5/2022 4:45:00 PM

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The IUPUI women's soccer team played Southern Indiana to a scoreless first half before the game was later declared a no contest, due to inclement weather. After the opening 45 minutes, the teams waited an extended period with rain and lightning in the area, but were unable to resume play.

IUPUI (2-0-3) remained undefeated on the season while neither side will get an outcome in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

IUPUI mustered just two shot attempts in the opening half, both coming from senior striker Maya Lacognato. However, more impressive, the IUPUI defense allowed just one attempt as USI's Morgan Beyer tried Ashton Kudlo in the 24th minute for the lone shot on frame.

IUPUI will return home to host a pair of matches this week as the Jaguars will take on Murray State on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6:00 p.m. and Evansville at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 11) to close out the non-conference slate. Thursday's game with Murray State will be broadcast on ESPN+ as Greg Rakestraw (pxp) describe the action.
