INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department and head basketball coach Matt Crenshaw announced the signing of DJ Jackson (Mississauga, Ont./Montverde Academy) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Jaguars this fall. Jackson, a 6-foot-4 guard, played this past season at Montverde Academy and will be a true freshman, beginning this season.

"DJ's a really quality basketball player and really quality young man," Crenshaw said. "He's a versatile and skilled player and is going to immediately help us in a number of ways. He's got a really good midrange game and has range out to the three-point line. He's a good finisher and can finish through contact. He played with a ton of confidence too, which helps make everyone around him better. Defensively, he's going to be really good just because he plays with such a high basketball IQ. We're excited to be adding him to the program and know that he's going to make a major impact here."

Jackson emerged on the scene through his play with UPlay Canada where he averaged 18.7 points per game during the EYBL. He played for Team Canada in the 2019 U16 Americas Championships, averaging 10.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game over six games, helping Canada to a silver medal. He also played in the BioSteel All Canadian All-Star Game, the Canadian equivalent to the McDonald's All-American Game, finishing with six points and 11 rebounds.

Jackson played this past season at Montverde (Fla.) Academy, following a long line of Canadians to have played at Montverde, which includes RJ Barrett. He helped Montverde capture a 2022 Prep National Championship, posting 29 points in the championship game, earning Second Team All-Tournament honors by On3.com. Earlier in the season, he helped Montverde win the Florida Sun Conference State Championship, tallying 33 points in the conference championship game.

Jackson becomes IUPUI's sixth addition for next season.
