INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department and head basketball coach Matt Crenshaw announced the signing of Jlynn Counter (Oklahoma City, Okla./Feltrim Academy) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Jaguars this fall. Counter, a 6-foot-3 guard, played this past season at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

"We're excited to add a player like Jlynn to our program," Crenshaw said. "He's a really gifted offensive player and is comfortable playing on the ball or off the ball. He's going to bring versatility to our guard spots and brings a lot of maturity and personality into the program.

"He's got good size, speed and quickness for the position and we think his best basketball is still ahead of him. He fits in well with the rest of our recruiting class."

Counter earned Second Team All-Region 2 honors this past season after averaging a team-high 16.2 points and 4.9 assists per game. In addition, he pulled down 4.8 rebounds per game and shot 43.7 percent overall and 38.8 percent from three-point range. He scored in double-digits 18 times and scored a season-high 42 at Pratt on Dec. 1. He delivered double-digit assists on three different occasions and had a double-digit rebounding game against Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa on Nov. 29. He just missed a triple-double against Connors State on Jan. 24, closing with 14 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

Counter played a season of postgraduate basketball at Feltrim (Fla.) Academy where he earned Third Team All-State honors. Before that, Counter starred at Southmoore (Okla.) High School in Moore, Okla.
