INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's basketball team dropped 97 points on the Ohio Bobcats to seal their third consecutive win on Sunday, 97-86. Six Jags posted double-digits with
Destiny Perkins leading the way with 20 points.
"It was a great team win this afternoon," said head coach
Kate Bruce. "We came out in the first quarter with great energy and focus which led to a 16 point lead going into the second quarter. It was great to see us shoot the ball with confidence and I was very impressed with our team's ball movement. It's always nice to get a win in the Jungle in front of our terrific fans!"
IUPUI (3-2) came out shooting with a three from Perkins in the first 15 seconds of the game followed by a three from
Ali Berg. The Jags shot 55.6 percent from behind the arc in the opening quarter with five made threes to take a 31-15 lead. They pushed their lead to 49-38 at the half.
Jaci Jones had a career-high game with 14 points, scoring 11 points in the third quarter with three 3's and a jumpshot for two, helping extend the Jaguars lead to 77-60. Ohio outscored the Jags in the fourth quarter, but IUPUI held off the late charge and collected their third win of the season, 97-86.
The Jags shot 46.6 percent from the floor and 40.6 from the three-point line while outrebounded the Bobcats 45 to 37.
Five IUPUI athletes scored double-digits with Perkins leading the way collecting her first double-double with 20 points and 10 assists.
Jazmyn Turner totaled 16 points with two blocks and seven rebounds while
Rachel Kent collected her first double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Ali Berg and
Logan Lewis also scored in the double digits with 12 and 11 points.
IUPUI will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. to face another MAC school, Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, November 23 at 2:00 PM.
