IUPUI WOMEN’S SWIMMING DEFEATS BUTLER, 158-103

Emmaleigh Zietlow set a new school record in the 400 IM

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's swimming team defeated the Butler Bulldogs on Friday night, 158-103. The Jags recorded 24 first-place finishes out of 27 events including a new school record with Emmaleigh Zietlow swimming a time of 4:20.04 in the 400 IM.
 
"Emmaleigh Zietlow continues to lead the charge with several conference leading times," said head coach Damion Dennis. "Lilly Brandt continues to be the cornerstone of our sprint crew winning both the 50 and 100 as well as producing some strong relay splits. Our freshman continue to show significant progress as well. Gabby and Jenna were both close to their best times and they grow more confident every week."
 
IUPUI started the meet off with a first-place finish in the 400 medley relay with Emma Theobald, Avery Brooks, Lilly Brandt and Zietlow swimming an overall time of 3:49.71. Zoe Hendrickx then finished first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:33.99 followed by Zietlow earning another win in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.56.
 
Lauren Thompson took first in the 100 back with a time of 57.04 while freshman Gabby Puryear-Lynch finished first in the 200 fly (2:04.16). Brandt took the first in the 50 free (24.13) and the 100 free (52.13). Theobald won the 200 back with a time of 2:05.34 while Zietlow took another first in the 500 free (4:57.77).
 
Puryear-Lynch clinched her second win of the night in the 100 fly with a time of 56.10. Zietlow then set a new school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:20.04. The Jags closed out the meet with the 200 free relay team, made up of Brandt, Brooks, Priscilla Zavala and Thompson, taking first with a time of 1:36.99.
 
"Overall great meet for our program," said coach Dennis. "We're doing a lot of little things really well and working exceptionally hard right now and we're starting to see the benefits in our racing."
