IUPUI WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HOSTS CONFERENCE FOES AT THE JUNGLE

Jags will face Green Bay on Thursday and Milwaukee on Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's basketball team hosts back-to-back conference contests at the Jungle when they face Horizon League foes Green Bay on Thursday (Jan. 6) and Milwaukee on Saturday (Jan. 8). The Jags tip off against the Green Bay Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. and take on the Milwaukee Panthers at 2:00 p.m.
 
The Jaguars enter the game after defeating conference opponent Wright State on Sunday (Jan. 2), 77-62. Redshirt senior Rachel McLimore led the Jags with a season-high 26 points, 21 of those coming in the first half. Macee Williams followed with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while sophomore Rachel Kent added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. Madison Wise had nine points and six rebounds.
 
Head coach Austin Parkinson's team was voted atop the Horizon League Women's Basketball Preseason Polls and has started the season 3-3 in conference play after having to forfeit two games due to Covid-19 issues. IUPUI currently sits at No. 13 in this week's College Insider Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
 
The Jags will face Green Bay on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Green Bay enters the game 7-4 and 3-2 in conference play after having their last game canceled due to Covid-19 issues. The Phoenix last played on Dec. 20 when they defeated Central Michigan, 71-67. They are led by junior Hailey Oskey who averages 11.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Redshirt senior Meghan Pingel leads the team in assists per game with 4.0.
 
Milwaukee is 5-8 and 4-2 in the Horizon League. The Panthers are coming off a forfeit win due to Covid issues within the opposing team. They last played on Dec. 30 when they lost to Oakland, 66-53. Redshirt sophomore Megan Walstad leads the team with 13.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Graduate student McKaela Schmelzer leads the team in assists per game with 2.7.

Thursday's game against Green Bay will be aired on ESPN+ with tip off at 7 p.m. and Saturday's game vs. Milwaukee will also be aired on ESPN+ at 2 p.m.
