CHICAGO, Ill. – The Jaguars continue their win streak, improving to seven games straight after defeating the UIC Flames in Sunday's matinee, 68-47. Junior
Natalie Andersen led the way for the Jags with a season-high 18 points, one away from her career-high at 19.
Macee Williams added 17 points and seven rebounds, while
Madison Wise collected a team-high eight rebounds.
"I'm not only pleased with
Natalie Andersen's performance today but her aggressive mentality that has set the tone in the last two games," said head coach
Austin Parkinson. "I thought
Macee Williams was efficient today. We need to do a better job of getting her the basketball. She needs more touches than what we got her today."
IUPUI took the lead early and never let up, leading for 94.8 percent of the game. Going into the half, the Flames were within striking distance, 32-24, but IUPUI came out strong in the third quarter and finished out the third with a 10-1 run. The Jags took their largest lead of 25 points with 8:29 left in the fourth quarter. Not only did the Jags come out shooting, but their defense continued to show why they are considered one of the best in the league. IUPUI forced 11 turnovers in the second half alone.

IUPUI finished the game at 52.9 percent (27-of-51) from the floor and 50 percent (8-of-16) from behind the arc while holding the Flames to just 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from the three-point line and 28. 3 percent (15-of-53) from the floor. The Jags also outrebounded UIC 39-26.
Rachel McLimore collected nine points, five assists and one rebound while
Rachel Kent added 11 points, four rebounds and two assists. Wise totaled six points, eight rebounds and three assists. Coming off the bench,
Trinity Duckworth added three points,
Morgan Allen with two points and
Jaci Jones and
Logan Lewis each added one.
With the win, the Jaguars improve to 12-5 on the year and 9-3 in the Horizon League, two of those losses being forfeits due to Covid-19. IUPUI will return home on Thursday (Jan. 27) to begin a four-game homestand as they face the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons on at 7:00 PM ET. Game coverage will be on ESPN+.
