INDIANAPOLIS – Gabrielle Ochalik earned a hard-fought singles win but the Jaguars lost 6-1 to UIC on Sunday (March 28).
Ochalik earned IUPUI's only point in the match in a battle at the No. 1 singles spot. After winning the first set, 7-5, Ochalik lost the second 6-4 to go in to a tie break. Ochalik came out on top with an 11-9 win in the third set.
"Gabrielle's win was exceptional," said head coach
Jason Suscha. "She serve and volleyed 100% of the time on both serves which is a truly remarkable feat in today's game."
Ines Rivera also went to a third set in her match at No. 6. Rivera won the first set 7-6(7-4) but lost the next two sets 6-1, 10-6.
