INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI sophomore guard Mike DePersia has been voted to the #HLMBB All-Academic Team, as chosen by the league's faculty athletic representatives and announced on Thursday (Feb. 18). DePersia was one of six individuals chosen to the league's All-Academic Team.

DePersia has maintained a 3.70 grade point average while majoring in finance.

"Mike is the example of what type of student-athlete we want at IUPUI. He's going to do what's asked of him every day and excel at it. He's going to be a positive role model in the classroom and in our community and lastly on the basketball court," head coach Byron Rimm II said. "We are extremely happy, but not surprised, that he received this award and there will be many more in his future."

On the floor, DePersia is one of two Jaguars to have started all 15 games this season and ranks first in the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover (5.50 a/to) and eighth in assists per game (3.93 apg). Earlier this season, he tied IUPUI's single-game record with 14 assists in the Jaguars' victory over UIC, doing so without committing a turnover.

Over the Jaguars' last six games, DePersia has delivered 31 assists without committing a turnover, helping IUPUI to a 4-2 mark during that stretch. He set a new IUPUI freshman record for assists in a season last year, distributing 85 to eclipse the previous mark in IUPUI's Division I era.

To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
