INDIANAPOLIS - Former IUPUI basketball standout
Marcus Burk has landed a spot with the G League Grand Rapids Gold, the league affiliate of the Denver Nuggets. Burk was recently named to the Gold's 12-man roster as they will officially begin their season against Sioux Falls on Nov. 11.
Burk, a 6-foot-3 guard, will be coached by former NBA standout Jason Terry and a teammate of NBA veteran Lance Stephenson. Two other teammates, Markus Howard and Petr Cornelie, are with the Gold on two-way contracts.Â
A two-time All-Horizon League performer, Burk was the 25th member of IUPUI's 1,000 Point Club, doing so in just 47 career games. He finished his two-year career ranked No. 22 on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,072 points. He totaled 1,848 points in his collegiate career - 776 at Campbell and 1,072 at IUPUI.Â
Last season, he ranked No. 7 in the country in scoring at 21.7 points per game and was 21st in the country in three-point percentage at 40.9 percent. He also led the Horizon League in steals per game at 1.83. He connected on 138 threes in just 50 games in an IUPUI uniform, doing so at a 39 percent clip.
