JAGUARS DEFEAT FALCONS IN SUNDAY MATINEE, 71-60

Macee Williams led IUPUI with 23 points

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The IUPUI women's basketball team earned their first win of the regular season at Bowling Green in Sunday's matinee, 71-60. Three-time Horizon League Player of the Year Macee Williams led the Jags with 23 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore transfer Rachel Kent added 13 points and four rebounds, while Madison Wise, in her first game with the Jaguars, scored 13 points and five rebounds.
 
"I was really impressed with Maddie Wise in her first game. She was very efficient from the field and played quality minutes," head coach Austin Parkinson said. 
 
Wise started for the Jaguars along with Williams, Kent, Rachel McLimore and Destiny Perkins. McLimore scored seven points with four rebounds and three assists while Perkins led the team in assists with seven. The Jags totaled 19 assists.
 
"Really happy with the aggressive mindset our team came out with on the road today," Parkinson said. "Nineteen assists mean we are moving and sharing the basketball."
 
IUPUI started the game off strong and took the lead early scoring 26 points in the first quarter. Bowling Green was unable to take the lead as the Jags led for 98.6 percent of the game. IUPUI took their largest lead of 21 in the third quarter.
 
"Bowling Green is a good basketball team and well coached so for us to come out with a win is big."
 
Anna Mortag and Natalie Andersen came off the bench and each scored five points. Mortag added one assist and two rebounds, while Anderson chipped in three assists and three rebounds. Morgan Allen added two points.
 
The Lady Jaguars finished the game at 46.7 percent from the floor and 31.8 percent (7-for-22) at the three-point line while holding the Falcons to 19.2 percent (5-for-26) beyond the arc. The Jags totaled 37 rebounds with six steals.
 
IUPUI will travel to Cleveland, Ohio to take on Horizon League foe Cleveland State on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7:00 PM ET. Game coverage with be on ESPN+.
