WOMEN'S SOCCER TO CAP HOME SLATE AGAINST YOUNGSTOWN STATE

Jaguars to host Penguins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 23)

10/22/2021 2:08:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - Riding three straight shutouts, the IUPUI women's soccer team will cap its home slate on Saturday (Oct. 23) when the Jaguars host Youngstown State at 10:00 a.m. at Carroll Stadium. The program will honor five individuals - Ciena Miller, Renae Blevins, Elizabeth Bueckers, Emily McGrath and AP Woodall - immediately following Saturday's contest.

IUPUI (3-10-3, 2-5-2 HL) comes in having not allowed a score in 345 straight minutes since the 2-0 home loss to Milwaukee. Since then, the Jaguars have dialed up clean sheets against Detroit Mercy, Green Bay and Robert Morris. Two of the shutouts have come on the road, including the most recent shutout at Robert Morris. However, the offense has struggled to find footing of late, having been blanked in three of its past four games, which includes scoreless draws with Green Bay and Robert Morris.

The Jags are in dire need of three points to potentially earn a spot in the six-team Horizon League Tournament. IUPUI enters this weekend with eight points (two wins, two ties) and tied for eighth in the league standings. One of the teams IUPUI is chasing is Youngstown State, which enters with 10 points (two wins, four ties).

Offensively, IUPUI hasn't scored multiple goals in a game since the season's second contest when the Jaguars rolled past Marian, 4-0. Bueckers continues to pace the attack with six goals and 13 points while Maya Lacognato has a pair of goals. Both Leah Shumate and Sam Slimak have a goal and two assists apiece.

Woodall has been dominant of late, lowering her goals against average to 1.57 while increasing her save percentage to .811. She's recorded 90 stops and been responsible for the three straight shutouts.
