JAGUARS TO OPEN TWO-GAME HOMESTAND AGAINST EIU ON WEDNESDAY

IUPUI (3-8-1, 2-5 HL) to host Eastern Illinois and Oakland this week

10/19/2021 12:13:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will kickoff a two-game homestand on Wednesday (Oct. 20) when the Jaguars host Eastern Illinois at 4:00 p.m. at the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Wednesday's contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ as Jonathan Matthes (pxp) calls the action.

Wednesday's game pits IUPUI head coach Brian Barnett against his longtime assistant Ronnie Bouemboue, who enters his second season as head coach at EIU.

Barnett's squad is coming off a 1-0 road win at Green Bay as Logan Finnegan tallied the game's lone goal in the 32nd minute off a Kirezi Freddy assist and Lucas Morefield dialed up a shutout in goal. The Jaguars' defense allowed just three shots on goal as Morefield earned his third solo shutout of the season. The victory gave IUPUI six points in Horizon League play as the Jaguars continue to be in the mix for a spot in the upcoming, six team league tournament.

Finnegan scored a goal in both of IUPUI's games last week and leads the Jaguars' attack in goals (3) and points (6).The sophomore midfielder is vying to become the first IUPUI player to score goals in three straight games since Alan Aguilar did so in October 2018.

Freddy moved into a tie with Tylin Broaders for the team lead in assists with two on the season.
