JAGS EARN THIRD STRAIGHT SHUTOUT IN SCORELESS DRAW AT RMU

Senior goalkeeper AP Woodall extends her streak to 344 minutes without allowing a score

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The IUPUI women's soccer team continued its recent string of shutouts in playing Robert Morris to a scoreless draw on a chilly Sunday afternoon (Oct. 17). Senior AP Woodall dialed up her third straight clean sheet and made 11 saves in the draw.

IUPUI (3-10-3, 2-5-2 HL) was outshot by a 23-13 margin and allowed 10 Robert Morris corner kicks, but remained vigilant in keeping the hosts off the scoreboard.

Ultimately, both teams come away from Sunday's outcome looking back on missed opportunities and misfortune.

IUPUI was content to allow RMU (5-9-3, 1-5-3 HL) to fire from distance against their elite shot stopper and the strategy worked as Woodall was brilliant in net. The Jaguars' best scoring chances didn't come until the second half, beginning in the 68th minute. Sophomore Jessica Jacobs played a long ball deep into the RMU box and an IUPUI attacker flicked a shot off the crossbar and out of play.

In the 77th minute, Maya Lacognato freed Elizabeth Bueckers on the right side and the Jags top scorer eluded an RMU defender before hitting her shot right at the opposing goalkeeper.

In the 82nd minute, Alex Stocker found herself free after a loose ball popped loose on the left side, but had her attempt go wide of frame.

RMU had plenty of chances as well as Woodall stonewalled Chelsea Kingston in the 84th minute, late in regulation. In the 96th minute, Woodall stopped a Sheridan Reid attempt from the right side to keep the game alive. In the middle of the second overtime period, Reid thought she had the winner when she drove a shot past Woodall from the right side, but off the crossbar and back on the field of play.

Similarly, IUPUI thought it had the winner in the 105th minute after an extensive connection of passes, Bueckers blasted a shot from 20 yards out past RMU keeper Isabella Bohlen, but was called for being offsides.

Bueckers led IUPUI with three shots while Autumn Weeks, Leah Shumate, Renae Blevins and Jacobs had two apiece. Weeks played all 110 minutes, helping keep things clean in front of Woodall.

The draw leaves IUPUI with eight points in the Horizon League standings with two matches to play. That stretch of two contests will begin next Saturday (Oct. 23) at 10:00 a.m. at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
