INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball program announced another addition for the 2020-2021 season on Monday (June 29) with the signing of junior college big man Dimitri Georgiadis. Georgiadis, a 6-foot-9 forward, played this past season at State Fair (Mo.) Community College and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. He was one of five Division I signees on State Fair's 2019-2020 team, helping them to a 16-14 mark and an appearance in the Region 16 Tournament Semifinal Round last season.

"Dimitri's a strong, tough, mature young man," head coach Byron Rimm II said. "He's a really strong rebounder and a good finisher inside. He's going to give us a strong physical presence in the paint and will pair nicely with some of our other bigs in Elyjah and Jonah up front. We're excited to get him here on campus and start getting to work.

"He brings a lot of leadership qualities to the program and is going to help us immediately."

Georgiadis made 17 starts at State Fair this past season, closing the season averaging 3.9 points and ranking third on the team with 5.6 rebounds per game. He led the Roadrunners with 20 blocked shots and had three games of double-digit rebounds during the season. He scored a season-high 10 points against Mineral Area College on Feb. 22 and had a season-high 12 boards against Southeastern Illinois on Feb. 19.

Georgiadis began his career at The Citadel, redshirting the 2018-2019 season. He appeared in the Bulldogs' first six games of the campaign, totaling nine points and five boards in 27 minutes of action before sitting the remainder of the campaign. He had five points and three steals in eight minutes against Johnson (Fla.) on Nov. 14 and made his collegiate debut at Clemson on Nov. 6.

He was a four-year letterwinner at Benedictine College Prep (Va.) and averaged 12.1 points and 10.7 rebounds as a senior. He also saw time with the Romanian U20 National Team and averaged 15.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Romanian U18 National Team in 2017. He comes from a family of athletes as his father was a collegiate swimmer and his mother was a collegiate basketball player.

Georgiadis is the Jaguars' fifth new addition for next season, joining true freshman Sadaidriene "DayDay" Hall and junior college transfers Jonah Carrasco, Bobby Harvey and Azariah Seay.

"With all the recruits we are bringing into our program, we look for the CTT. That's character, toughness and talent. All of them are winners and play with a chip on their shoulder," Rimm said. "They are guys who care and they have something to prove to the basketball world. They put the team first and are awesome teammates."
