JAGS SEEK TENTH-STRAIGHT WIN BATTLING YOUNGSTOWN STATE

IUPUI will take on the Penguins as the Jags look to continue to stay on top of the Horizon League standings.

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's basketball will be looking for its 10th-straight win as the Jaguars welcome Youngstown State to the Jungle on Saturday (Feb. 1). The game against the Penguins will tip-off at 2 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN3 with Scott Agness on the play-by-play call.

The game between the Jags and the Penguins is a battle of two teams that have recently been going in different directions. IUPUI has won nine-straight games after beating Cleveland State on Thursday (Jan. 30), while Youngstown State has lost three-straight games, including a loss at UIC in their last game.

IUPUI's only loss in the Horizon League came at the hands of Youngstown State in the first game of the conference slate.

LAST MEETING WITH YSU
  • IUPUI's only loss in league play this season came in the first game on the schedule as the Jags fell at Youngstown State.
  • Four Jags finished in double-figures as Macee Williams led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out with just over 1 minute left.
  • Sydney Roule scored a career-high 16 points on 4-for-7 from deep.
  • IUPUI finished just 8-for-28 from three-point range and went 15-for-24 from the free throw line.
NUMBERS DURING THE STREAK
  • During IUPUI's eight-game winning streak the Jags offense has been shooting 48.7% from the field and scoring 75.6 points per game.
  • The Jaguars have won every game during the streak by at least 10 points with four of the eight wins by at least 30 points.
  • In the 360 minutes of gameplay during the winning streak, IUPUI has led for 337:14 and only trailed for 12:44.
  • IUPUI has scored at least 80 points in four of the eight games and 75+ points in seven of the eight games. 
  • The Jags have hit at least 11 threes in four games and are shooting 40.5% from deep. Two Jaguars are hitting at least 50% from long range, led by Katelyn O'Reilly who is shooting 66.7%.
  • Macee Williams has scored in double-figures in every game, including two 30+-point outbursts. Williams is averaging 17.9 points per game during the run and is shooting 62% from the field, the highest of any Jaguar.
  • IUPUI is outrebounding opponents 37.8-28.9 with Williams leading the way at 8.1 per game.
  • The Jaguars are moving the ball much better than their opponents, dishing out 170 assists to just 79. IUPUI had just 10 assists against Green Bay but had no fewer than 18 in any other game. Holly Hoopingarner has 43 assists during the streak to lead the team.
  • IUPUI's defense is allowing just 50.1 points per game with seven of the teams scoring 53 points or fewer. Opponents are shooting just 36.5% from the field and 22.7% from three-point range in the last nine games.
  • The Jags are doing most of their damage with the starters on the court as IUPUI is outscoring teams 195-117 in the first quarter and 166-88 in the third quarter.
ABOUT YOUNGSTOWN STATE
  • Youngstown State has lost three-straight games with a double-overtime loss against Green Bay and losses to Milwaukee and UIC.
  • Chelsea Olson leads the Penguins on the season with 11.2 points per game and is scoring 11.4 during conference play.
  • Youngstown State is shooting just 35.4% from the field and allowing 40.6% by opponents.
