JAGS HEAD TO CHICAGO TO TAKE ON UIC ON SATURDAY

IUPIU looks to win its eighth-straight game as they take on the Flames.

CHICAGO – IUPUI women's basketball looks to stay hot as the Jags travel to UIC on Saturday (Jan. 25). The game against the Flames will tip off at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN3.

The Jags sit on top of the Horizon League standings with a 7-1 record in league play and are looking for their eighth-straight win. IUPUI will be taking on a UIC team that sits at 1-7 in league play and have lost four-straight.
 
 LAST TIME OUT (75-52 win at Milwaukee)
  • IUPUI pushed its winning streak to seven games after beating Milwaukee in the middle of three-straight games on the road.
  • Four Jaguars finished in double-figures with Destiny Perkins scoring a season-high 13 points, going 3-for-4 from three.
  • Sydney Roule, Rachel McLimore and Macee Williams all scored 12 points for the Jags.
  • IUPUI shot 52.4% from three-point range, the second-highest mark of the season for IUPUI. The Jags have shot 50% or higher from deep in three of their eight Horizon League games.
  • The Jaguars were outrebounded by Milwaukee by one. It was the first time that the Jags were outrebounded in Horizon League play and IUPUI's 30 rebounds were the lowest in league play and third-lowest this season.
INSIDE THE STREAK
  • During IUPUI's seven-game winning streak, the offense for the Jags has been off the charts with IUPUI averaging 76.3 points per game and shooting 50.6% from the field. The Jags are also hitting 42.4% from deep and 73% from the free throw line.
  • Williams has been the catalyst for the Jags during the run, leading the team with 19.3 points per game, 8.9 rebounds per game, five blocks and 15 steals. Williams is also third on the team during the streak with 16 assists. Williams has scored in double figures in every game during the streak, including scoring over 30 points twice, as well as posting three double-doubles.
  • While averaging 9.1 points per game, Holly Hoopingarner is also leading the offense with 36 assists in the streak. Hoopingarner has four games with at least five assists and no fewer than two assists in any game.
  • Rachel McLimore started the streak slowing by has scored in double-figures in the last five games, including a career-high 26 points against Northern Kentucky. McLimore has hit 50% from three and 87% from the free throw line.
  • The Jags defense has locked down their opponents, allowing just 50.6 points per game, with the most points surrendered being 61. IUPUI has held three teams under 50 points during the streak.
  • Opponents are shooting just 36.4% from the field and a dismal 22.1% from three during the streak.
  • The Jags have dominated on the boards, averaging 36.3 rebounds per game and allowing just 27.7 rebounds to their opponents.
  • IUPUI has more than doubled their opponents' assists during the streak with 129 over the last seven games, to just 61.
  • The third quarter has been a defining ten minutes during the Jaguar winning streak. IUPUI has outscored their opponents 135-68 coming out of halftime.
FINISHING GAMES
  • Getting out to an early lead has been crucial for the Jaguars as IUPUI is 13-1 on the season and 7-1 in Horizon League games when taking a lead in to halftime.
  • When IUPUI has the lead with five minutes left in the game, the Jags are 13-1 on the year and 7-0 in Horizon League play. IUPUI has not overcome a deficit with five minutes left this year (0-3) and have also not won when the game is tied at the five minute mark (0-2).
 
 TAKING ON THE FLAMES
  • IUPUI has never lost a game against UIC in five meetings. In all four Horizon League meetings, IUPUI has domi­nated UIC, winning by an average of 29.5 points
  • The Jaguars have scored at least 71 points in three of the four league meetings and have never allowed more than 46 points in any of those four meetings.
  • In the last meeting (Feb. 23, 2019), IUPUI used big second and third quarters to take over the game. The Jags trailed 15-13 after the first quarter but outscored UIC 46-17 in the next 20 minutes on route to a 29-point victory.
  • Macee Williams led the Jags in the win with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Katelyn O'Reilly was one of two other Jaguars to score in double-figures with 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
UIC TRENDS
  • UIC is 2-17 overall and 1-7 in Horizon League play having lost their last four matches.
  • The Flames have lost their last four games by at least 15 points.
  • UIC's last game was a 73-36 loss at Green Bay.
  • On the season, Tylah Lampley leads the team with 10.8 points per game and Jada Nneji is also scoring double-figures with 10.7 per game. Nneji also leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game and 31 blocks.
  • In conference play, Nneji has upped her average to 13.0 points per game.
  • The Flames are allowing opponents to average 73.1 points per game and shoot 41.7% from the field in conference play. UIC is holding their opponents to just 24.9% from deep in their first eight league games.
