MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Four Jaguars scored in double-figures as IUPUI pushed its winning streak to seven games with a 75-52 win at Milwaukee on Sunday (Jan. 19). The Jags kept up their hot shooting, hitting over 50% from the field against the Panthers.
IUPUI (13-6, 7-1 Horizon) was led by 13 points from Destiny Perkins, who scored 10 points after halftime. Macee Williams, Sydney Roule and Rachel McLimore all finished the game with 12 points. The Jags did not struggle against the Milwaukee (6-12, 3-4 Horizon) defense, finishing the game at 50.9% from the floor and 11-for-21 (52.4%) from deep. Roule led the Jags from downtown, going 4-for-7 and Perkins finished 3-for-4.
Leading 18-12 after the first quarter, the Jags pulled away in the second. Perkins first three of the game and two free throws by Williams pushed the lead to 11. The Panthers cut the lead to seven later in the quarter but IUPUI closed out the frame on a 10-2 run that featured McLimore and Roule threes.
A 7-0 run to start the second half with a three by Roule and buckets by Williams and McLimore, gave IUPUI its first 20-point lead of the afternoon. With just under three minutes left in the quarter, IUPUI used an 8-0 run in under one minute to increase the lead to 28. In total, IUPUI outscored Milwaukee 42-20 in the second and third quarters.
"I am very pleased with how locked in our players have been to the scouting report and the defensive end," said head coach Austin Parkinson. "Offensively we are moving the ball well and playing unselfish, which is fun to watch."
The Jags did a good job of sharing the ball, finishing with 18 assists on 29 made baskets. Holly Hoopingarner led IUPUI with four assists and Natalie Andersen tallied three. Four other Jaguars finished the game with two helpers.
IUPUI's defense forced 19 turnovers by Milwaukee, leading to 19 points as the Jags grabbed 11 steals, led by three from Katelyn O'Reilly.
O'Reilly also led the Jags on the glass, pulling down nine rebounds and tying Williams with a team-high four offensive boards.
