THE SERIES

  • IUPUI has outscored HBU 4-3 in the two prior matches.
JAG SCRATCHES
  • Senior midfielder Yan Souza was named the Horizon League's Offensive Player of the Week this week after tallying the game-winner in the Jags' 2-1 win at Northern Kentucky in the game's 89th minute. Souza took a feed from Alan Aguilar and drove a shot off an NKU defender and into the open net. Cincinnati-native Chris Workman also scored his first career goal in that game as he was playing just minutes from his hometown.
  • The Jaguars win at NKU was IUPUI's first regular season road win since September 2014 and first regular season league road win since October 2012.
  • IUPUI recently launched year three of the Jaguars' 'Real Men Read' program, having worked with seven IPS Schools, spanning 16 fourth grade classrooms.
  • Aguilar fueled the Jaguars' 2-0 win over Purdue Fort Wayne, tallying goals in the 61st and 64th minutes. The winner came off assists from Gianni Catenacci and Fernando Borges and he added insurance just more than three minutes later by converting the fourth penalty kick of his career.
  • Aguilar and Souza both have two goals while Catenacci has a team-high three assists.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Quinn McCallion has been brilliant this season, registering a 0.71 goals against average and 13 saves in 380 minutes of action. He registered his first shutout of the season against Purdue Fort Wayne.
  • Junior back Tommy Patacca has yet to come off the field so far this season while Catenacci is second on the team with 353 minutes of action.
  • IUPUI went 5-10-4 last season and 4-3-1 in Horizon League play, earning a spot in the league's postseason tournament. The Jags then won the program's first postseason match since 2007 by upsetting Green Bay in the opening round. IUPUI later took eventual league champion UIC to penalty kicks in the semifinals round.
  • Dating back to last season, IUPUI is 4-1-2 in the last seven matches, having closed last season with back-to-back wins over Northern Kentucky and Green Bay, followed by a draw with eventual league champion UIC in the Horizon League Tournament.
  • The Jaguars were picked to finish seventh in the Horizon League, according to the league's preseason polls.
  • IUPUI returns its top two scorers from a season ago in senior midfielder Alan Aguilar (11 points) and sophomore back Corey Goede (eight points). In addition, McCallion (1.22 GAA) returns in net and five other starters - Tommy PataccaCameron PetersenAnthony Saporito, Shives and Pedro Valladao - all return.
