INDIANAPOLIS - Former Horizon League champion and Butler standout Justin Roeder has joined the IUPUI men's cross country and track coaching staff for the 2019-2020 season. It marks Roeder's second stint with the Jaguars as he served as a volunteer assistant in 2011-2012. This time around, he replaces longtime assistant Evan Fruits and will serve as top assistant on head coach Chuck Koeppen's staff.

"We had a really strong collection of candidates, but we're happy to have found our guy in Justin Roeder. I've known Justin for a long time and just he and his family are everything you look for in that they're really good people," Koeppen said. "He's obviously been a very accomplished runner and then has gone on to continue to train triathletes at a very high level. I think our guys are really going to take to him right away and he's going to immediately make us better from the moment he steps on campus.

"I know he's excited to get started and make his imprint on the program."

Roeder has been training athletes as head coach and owner of Roeder Multisport since 2010 and has served as senior director and partner of Endurance House since 2014. With Roeder Multisport, he's trained youth and adult age-group athletes in running, biking and triathlon training and prides himself on facilitating athletic and personal growth. With Endurance House, he's overseen all of the operational aspects from training, development, buying, payroll, inventory and guest experience.

He graduated from Butler in 2011 with a B.S. in Physical Education and was a three-time Horizon League Champion. He won the 5,000m event in outdoor track in 2007 and 2010 and the 10,000m event in 2009. He qualified for the NCAA National Championships in 2006 and was an All-Regional performer in 2009. He later qualified for NCAA Regionals in the 10,000m event in 2010. He later pursued a professional career as a triathlete from 2012-2015, training with the USA Triathlon College Recruitment and Olympic Develop Programs. He garnered his Elite Triathlon License, allowing him to compete in Olympic Distance Triathlons in an effort to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Team.

Roeder also served as a counselor at Koeppen's All-Star Cross Country Camp from 2004-2014.

Roeder is expected to begin duties immediately and will assist in all facets of the program.
