WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FACES NO. 1 WRIGHT STATE IN #HLWBB SEMIS

IUPUI will look to earn a spot in the finals of Motor City Madness with a win over the Raiders.

DETROIT, Mich – IUPUI women's basketball will look to upset the No. 1 seed Wright State Raiders in the semifinals of the 2019 Little Caesar's Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship on Monday (Mar. 11).

The game against the Wright State will tip-off at 1 p.m. at Little Caesar's Arena and will be streamed on ESPN+ for those who cannot make it to the game.

IUPUI earned a trip to the semis after taking down Northern Kentucky 60-44 in the quarterfinal round. The Jags were led by Sydney Hall who finished the game with 16 points, going 7-for-9 from the field. IUPUI dominated the Norse in the second half, pulling away in the fourth quarter by shooting 73 percent from the field (8-for-11).

The Jags will now face a Wright State team that stopped Green Bay's dominance of the regular season, finishing in first place in the conference with a 16-2 record. The Raiders have won six-straight games and beat No. 8 Oakland in the quarterfinals.

Wright State beat IUPUI in both meetings this season and has won four-straight against the Jaguars, including knocking the Jags out of last year's tournament in the semifinal round.

First Meeting - Wright State 78 - IUPUI 75 (0T)
- IUPUI dropped the first meeting with Wright State in overtime, the second-straight game IUPUI had played extra time after falling to Southern Illinois in the previous game 78-73.
- The Jags finished with five players in double-figures with Macee Williams leading the way with 16 points but was just 6-for-13 from the field.
- IUPUI outrebounded the best rebounding team in the league 47-41 and held a 19-9 advantage in second-chance points.
- The game featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes, the third-highest total for lead changes in a game for IUPUI this season.
- IUPUI came back from down seven during the fourth quarter and had a two-point lead until a layup with two seconds left on the clock
 
Second Meeting - Wright State 66 - IUPUI 59
- IUPUI was swept by the Raiders in the season series after dropping the second game of the season which ended a four-game road trip for the Jags.
- Both teams struggled shooting, each hitting 36.8 percent of their shots. IUPUI finished with three players in double-figures as Tamya Sims, Macee Williams and Morgan Allen all finished with 10 points.
- IUPUI shot just 7-for-27 in the game with Sydney Hall going 2-for-11 and Sydney Roule going 3-for-8 from behind the arc.
- IUPUI held a one point lead halfway through the first quarter but was down 24-13 after the first 10 minutes. Wright State held its largest lead of 17 with 8:24 left in the game and IUPUI was able to come back and pull within five with under 30 seconds left but that is as close as the Jags got.
- The Jags turned the ball over 16 times and it led to an 18-2 advantage in points off of turnovers for the Raiders.

Honors for Williams
- After leading the conference in scoring at 16.6 points per game and finishing second in rebounding at nine per game, Williams was named Horizon League Player of the Year. Williams is the second Player of the Year in IUPUI women's basketball history. Williams was also named First Team All-League.

Hall Shooting for 1,000
- Sydney Hall is just four points away from being the 25th Jaguar to score 1,000 points in her career.
