SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The IUPUI men's tennis team could not earn its first road win of the season, falling to No. 13 Notre Dame, 5-2 on Sunday (Feb. 3).
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono continued his hot play, winning his fifth-straight singles match as the sophomore came back to win a three-set match. After dropping the first set, 3-6, Mardanus-Budiono tied his match with a 6-3 win of his own in set two. Mardanus-Budiono closed the match out with a 12-10 win in set three.
The other IUPUI (4-3) point in the match came as the Jaguars earned the doubles point. The duo of
Bradley Luetschwager and
Kyle Whittaker won their No. 2 doubles match 6-4. Mardanus Budiono and
Sean Bailey won the No. 3 match by default.
IUPUI will begin a three-match stretch away from the West Indy Racquet Club in Clarksville, Tenn., with a match against Austin Peay on Friday, Feb. 8 beginning at 2 p.m.
