JAGUARS PLAY FINAL ROAD GAME OF THE SEASON AT UIC

IUPUI will look to win its fifth-straight game as the Jags take on the Flames on Saturday (Feb. 23).

CHICAGO – IUPUI women's basketball will play its final road game of the regular season at UIC (3-23, 1-14 Horizon) on Saturday (Feb. 23). Tip time against the Flames is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on ESPN3.

IUPUI (17-9, 11-4 Horizon) has clinched a top-four seed for the 2019 Little Caesar's Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship and will host a quarterfinal game in the Jungle on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. The Jags are coming down the stretch of the season sitting in fourth but in a battle to determine which seed IUPUI will be in the tournament.

The Jags are coming off of their fourth-straight win with a 58-41 victory over Detroit Mercy the last time they took the court. In the game, IUPUI dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Titans 52-28 and pulling down 27 rebounds. Macee Williams set a career-high with 18 boards, the most by a Jaguar since 2016. Williams' 13 offensive rebounds are the most by an IUPUI player since at least 2000. Williams also led the way with 15 points followed by Sydney Roule (14) and Holly Hoopingarner (13).

The Flames come in to the game having lost 10-straight contests with the last nine being decided by at least 10 points. UIC's last game was a 74-57 loss at Oakland. Brittany Byrd led the way for UIC with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Jags Take Down the Titans
  • Sydney Hall and Allex Brown became the all-time winningest class in IUPUI history as the 2015-19 class won its 84th game.
  • The Jaguars have pulled down 50-plus rebounds and in three games and 20 or more offensive rebounds in five games this season, the most since doing the same in the 2015-16 campaign.
  • Macee Williams has scored in double-figures in 24 of the 26 games for IUPUI this season.
  • Katelyn O'Reilly only scored four points but pulled down 10 rebounds and tied Sydney Hall for the team lead with five assists as IUPUI assisted on 14 of its 18 field goals.
  • IUPUI matched its season low for points in a win. The Jags also scored 58 points in a victory over UT San Antonio over Thanksgiving this year.
  • The Jags tied a season-high with five blocks against the Titans. Williams and Tamya Sims each had two blocks and O'Reilly added another.
  • IUPUI shot under 30 percent from the field in the game. It was the first time IUPUI won a game when shooting less than 30 percent since shooting 29 percent in a 45-43 win at Omaha on Feb. 9, 2013.
Hall of Points
  • Sydney Hall is the active leading scorer for IUPUI with 953 points.  With another 47 points this season, Hall would become the 25th player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point mark.
  • Hall is also the active leader in three-point shots made, having hit 202 in her career. Hall is now third all-time in school history and is 25 threes away from becoming the all-time three point shooter.
  • The senior has also reached the 200 career assist mark and is just two rebounds away from 300 in her career.
Winning Big
  • IUPUI has won their last six home games by at least 20 points. It is the longest streak in school history. The Jags have outscored opponents on their home floor by over 18 points and have won by an average of more than 18 points this season.
Let's Play Extra
  • IUPUI has played in a school record five overtime games this season going 2-3 in those games. Twice, IUPUI has played in back-to-back overtime contests. The first occurrence saw the Jags lost to Southern Illinois and Wright State. IUPUI has won its last two overtime games, winning back-to-back overtime games at Green Bay and Milwaukee, the first time doing so since 1996
Winning on the Tundra
  • IUPUI beat Green Bay 67-63 in overtime on Saturday (Jan. 26). It was the first time Green Bay had lost a conference home game since Jan. 28 against Oakland. It was IUPUI's first win in five tries against the Phoenix.
Getting the Defense Going
  • Since surrendering 70 points to Youngstown State on Jan. 5, IUPUI has locked down opponents, especially on its home court. In five home games, the Jags have allowed an average of 44.6 points per game with a high of 53 points allowed to Oakland on Jan. 13. The Jags held back-to-back opponents under 45 points for the first time since Feb. 23 and 28 of 2013. 
Great Results in the Great Lakes State
  • IUPUI has had strong results in the past few years against Michigan teams having won its last ten games against teams from Michigan, including four-straight against Oakland and three against Detroit Mercy. The Jaguars last loss against a Michigan team was a 45-64 loss at Michigan State in 2014.
