INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's basketball cruised in its exhibition over Benedictine with a 93-33 win on Thursday (Oct. 31). The Jags were led by
Morgan Allen who scored 22 points.
Allen dominated the Eagles down low, going 8-for-14 from the field and also hit six of her nine free throws. IUPUI had four other players finish in double figures.
Katelyn O'Reilly was second on the team with 15 points going 5-for-5 from the line and
Macee Williams finished with a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double. Freshman
Natalie Andersen went 3-for-5 from three point range to finish with 11 points and
Rachel McLimore added 10.
Behind Williams' 13 rebounds, IUPUI finished with a 53-31 rebound advantage over Benedictine and four other Jaguars pulled down at least six rebounds.
The Jags used a big 27-8 first quarter to take control of the game and never allowed Benedictine to score more than 11 points in a quarter, holding the Eagles to three quarters of single digit points. IUPUI forced 31 turnovers, including 19 steals, led by five from McLimore. The Jaguars turned those 31 turnovers in to 32 points.
IUPUI scored the first six points of the game and after a Benedictine basket, O'Reilly scored two baskets and Allen added a layup, two of IUPUI's 54 points in the paint. Andersen closed out the Jaguar run with a three and halfway through the first quarter IUPUI was up 15-2. A three by freshman
Ali Berg, who finished with eight points and six rebounds, kick-started a 6-0 run to end the quarter and the route was on.
The Jaguars never trailed in the game and took their largest lead of the game at 60 after a layup from
Sydney Roule with 21 seconds left in the game.

IUPUI will begin its regular season on Tuesday (Nov. 5) with a game against in-state foe Ball State in the Jungle. The game against the Cardinals will begin at 7 p.m.
