TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - As they've done all season, the duo of Morgan Fleming and Katelyn Murphy continued to pace the IUPUI women's cross country on Saturday as the Jaguars competed at the Under Armour Pre-Nationals Invitational, hosted by Indiana State at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course. Fleming placed 32nd of 175 runners in the White Race, clocking a 6K time of 21:54.4. Meanwhile, Murphy was nearly stride for stride with her sophomore teammate, clocking a time of 22:05.7. 

Collectively, the Jaguars placed 15th of 26 teams with a score of 357 points. 

"The weather conditions were perfect for a fast race," Fleming said. "We came ready to go as a team and we're excited to get back to work for conference."

"It was another solid showing for this group," head coach Antonio McDaniel said. "It was great seeing the live splits and team standings and seeing us move up as we got deeper into the race. There's definitely a lot of fight in this team and it showed today."

Three Horizon League teams finished in succession among the middle of the pack of Saturday's race as Oakland finished 14th, edging the Jaguars by 15 points. The Jags closed 24 points ahead of Milwaukee, which finished 16th. 

Junior Janine Orvis continued to impress with a time of 22:43.4 to finish 68th overall and freshman Claire Mehling (23:12.2) and Ashton Chase (23:27.7) capped the scoring five. Another freshman, Kara Krol, was the Jaguars' No. 6 runner in a time of 24:32.6 and junior Jean Carson clocked a time of 25:18.4. 

In the open race, Paige Boatright led the Jags' entries with a time of 24:04.0, giving the Jaguars yet another option for the upcoming Horizon League Championships. 

The Jags will next turn their sights to the Horizon League Championships, which will be held on Nov. 2 in Highland Heights, Ky.
