INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI knocked in 11 treys and put four players in double-digits as the Jaguars rolled past Detroit Mercy, 80-65 inside Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Saturday (Jan. 26). Junior Camron Justice tallied a game-high 21 points, including five treys, and sophomore Jaylen Minnett tallied 17, including five triples of his own. Freshman Jack Hansen hit for a career-high 15 points off the bench and senior Evan Hall recorded his second straight double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high seven assists.

Willy Isiani led Detroit Mercy (8-13, 5-4 HL) with 20 points and Josh McFolley added 19 points and five assists. UDM was without top scorer Antoine Davis, who missed the game due to injury.

"Detroit is a hard team to put away. They really shoot it [from three] and can get hot and score a lot in a hurry. I thought we did a good job of looking to make the extra pass and getting open looks," head coach Jason Gardner said. "Cam and Jaylen did a good job of knocking down open looks against their zone. We knew they'd both have to make shots to get a win."

IUPUI (13-9, 5-4 HL) shot 51 percent overall and 11-of-23 (48 percent) from three, while delivering 26 assists on 28 buckets. The Jaguars used diagonal passing to saw through the Titans' zone all day long, resulting in clean looks from the perimeter and high post. Justice and Minnett teamed to hit 10-of-19 from deep while Hansen broke out of a shooting funk, hitting 5-of-9 short jumpers and drives in just 18 minutes. It was his first time in double-digits since scoring 10 in the season opening loss at Xavier.

Both teams came out hot as Isiani accounted for the Titans' opening nine points, all from behind the three-point line. The guests built a 15-11 lead before IUPUI fired back with a 12-0 run, which included seven straight points from Minnett. IUPUI led 33-24 at the half and opened the second half with 10 straight points, including a pair of Justice treys. IUPUI never allowed Detroit Mercy closer than 13 and extended the lead to as many as 23 when Hall was left unguarded behind the zone and threw down a two-handed tomahawk dunk in front of his own bench.

The Jaguars' bench was critical, outscoring Detroit Mercy's reserves by a 34-18 margin. Playing without Davis, IUPUI also harassed the Titans into 22 turnovers and converted them into 18 points. Grant Weatherford finished with four steals and six assists while Justice and Minnett had two each. Senior D.J. McCall ended with eight points and five assists, stopping his streak of double-figure scoring games at five.

IUPUI also held the Titans without a second chance points, limiting UDM to three offensive boards and no conversions. Gardner's team ultimately won the glass 28-26, in part due to Hall's eighth career double-double.

"I thought we did a good job of crashing and keeping them to one shot," Gardner said. "You definitely don't want to give a team that shoots the three like they do too many extra looks. I was proud of how we competed and really kept them off the glass."

IUPUI closes the first half of Horizon League play with a 5-4 mark, squarely in the middle of a tightly bunched pack.

IUPUI will continue the five-game homestand on Friday night (Feb. 1) when the Jaguars host Horizon League leader Northern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. inside Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
