INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI hosted its last meet of the season and sent its seniors out is style with three wins as the women won both meets against Cleveland State and UIC and the men beat UIC.
After celebrating the careers of IUPUI's 13 seniors, the Jags hit the pool and the women finished the meet beating Cleveland State 148-87 and UIC 150-93. The men also earned a meet win over UIC 127-116 but fell to Cleveland State 126-116.
One of IUPUI's best events of the day came in the women's 50 freestyle as the Jags took the top four spots in the sprint.
Maggie Hatfield won the event with a time of 24.15, followed by
Tori Kroon (24.30),
Mallory Buha (24.81) and
Samantha Roll (24.91).
IUPUI won both the men's and women's 200 freestyle events with
Jackson Sandala taking the men's in 1:41.40 and
Andrea Hanas winning in 1:55.14. Sandala picked up his second win of the day with a victory in the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.57 and
Maggie Hatfield also earned her second win of the day with a time of 52.32 in the women's 100 freestyle.
After finishing second in the men's 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:56.64,
Ben Levart took home first in the men's 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 4:36.14.
The Jags finished the meet winning both the men's and women's 400 free relays. The men's team of
Mason Jung, Sandala,
Cade Anderson and Josh Barajas touched the wall in 1:24.82. The women's team of Hatfield, Hanas, Buha and Kroon took first by almost three seconds with time of 1:36.77.
IUPUI will be on the road for three more meets before the Natatorium will host the Horizon League Championships from Feb. 13-16.
