INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI swimming and diving returns from its winter break for two home meets against Cleveland State and UIC as the Jags start to gear up for the 2019 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships.
The first meet against the Vikings and the Flames will be on Friday (Jan. 11) beginning at 6 p.m. and the three teams will meet again on Saturday (Jan. 12) at 11:30 a.m. Both meets will be in the IUPUI Natatorium and the Jags will have a senior day presentation before the meet on Saturday, which will be the last home meet of the season.
With just under a month left until IUPUI hosts the 2019 Horizon League Championships (Feb. 13-16), the Jags will get a good look at some league competition and will look to continue the success it had in the first half of the season. The men's team is riding four-meet win streak and the women have won five-straight dual meets.
IUPUI holds five time times in the Horizon League this year, led by
Ben Levart who holds the top times in the 500 free (4:28.43), 1000 free (9:27.57) and 1650 free (15:40.99). Teammate
Jackson Sandala holds the fastest 200 free time in the league at 1:38.82.
On the women's side,
Olivia Treski has the fastest 1000 free at 10:14.48 and
Mallory Buha is tops in the 100 fly with a time of 54.51.
After the weekend, IUPUI will have just three more meets to get ready for the conference championships as the Jags will travel to Oakland, Butler and Ohio State.
