INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team squandered a three-goal advantage and played Taylor University to a 3-3 double overtime draw at Carroll Stadium on Wednesday night (Sept. 5). The Jags seemed primed to break a five-game winless streak after building a 3-0 lead early in the second half, but yielded three Taylor goals in a 14-minute stretch to play to a tie.

IUPUI (1-4-2) outshot the Trojans 27-9 overall and had an 11-3 advantage on corner kicks, but it wasn't enough to knock off the NAIA foe.

Sophomore Miranda Ricks delivered assists on all three IUPUI goals as Morgan Rymer, Natalie McNally and Elizabeth Bueckers all tallied their first career goals. Ricks three assists tied the program's single-game record, becoming the third player in school history to accumulate three in a game (Tara Latella & Krissy Kirkhoff).

The only thing that slowed down the IUPUI attack in the opening half was inclement weather. The game was halted less than 10 minutes in due to lightning in the area, resulting in an hour long delay. Upon the resumption of play, IUPUI scored twice in a 10-minute stretch, beginning with Rymer's first career goal in the 13th minute. Ricks recycled a corner kick opportunity into the middle of the box where Rymer put a composed strike past the Taylor (2-0-2) keeper.

Just more than three minutes later, Ricks sent a corner kick into danger where McNally redirected a shot into an open net for her first career score.

IUPUI pushed the lead to 3-0 early in the second half when Ricks struck again, this time setting up Bueckers. Ricks stole the ball from a Taylor defender just inside midfield and shifted a pass out to Bueckers on the right flank. The rookie attacker did the rest, rolling a shot past the Taylor keeper for her first career tally.

However, Taylor's offense gained some steam beginning with an Erin Teevans strike in the 65th minute and it snowballed from there against IUPUI reserve keeper Skylar England. In the 72nd minute, Bailey Zehr slotted a shot just inside the far post and she pulled the Trojans even in the 79th minute with an unassisted tally.

England finished with one save in her 45 minutes of work before starter Sophia Lipka went back in net for the two overtime periods.

IUPUI dominated possession in extra time and looked to have a couple of game-winning opportunities from senior midfielder Jessica Flores. The first went wide of target in the 92nd minute and her shot aimed just inside the far post in the 95th minute was plucked by Taylor keeper Megan Williams.

Williams finished with seven saves in 110 minutes of action.

IUPUI will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 9 when the Jaguars host Evansville at 1:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium. That game is part of the ROAR for 5 challenge as fans participating in this year's ROAR for 5 Challenge will receive FREE admission as part of the IUPUI Welcoming Campus Initiative. For those unable to attend, the match will be broadcast on ESPN+ as Scott Agness (pxp) will be  on the call, beginning at kickoff.
