CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The IUPUI basketball team will open play in the four-game Fort Myers Tip-Off on Wednesday night (Nov. 14) when the Jaguars take on Boston College (2-0) inside Conte Forum at 7:00 p.m.. The game will be aired on ACC Extra to a national audience. The Jags will trek to Richmond on Friday before later playing two games in Niagara to conclude the tournament.

IUPUI (1-1) collected its first win of the season this past weekend, getting past Eastern Illinois 71-65 at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Junior Camron Justice led three Jaguars in double-digits with a career-high 21 points and sophomore Elyjah Goss collected his first career double-double with 10 points, 10 boards and two blocked shots. Junior Grant Weatherford chimed in with 14 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field. The win avenged last year's one-point road loss at EIU.

More to follow...

QUOTABLE: "Today was a total team win. It wasn't the prettiest win and I don't think we're close to playing our best basketball, but honestly, we did enough to get the win. That's the most important part. I'm not sure we win that game last season. We didn't shoot the ball particularly well and we left a lot of points on the foul line, but again, I thought we made enough big plays when we needed them to get the win. It was good to get Cam going a little bit and that makes it easier on everyone else when he draws so much attention," Gardner said.

UP NEXT: IUPUI continue a stretch of four straight games away from home on Friday night (Nov. 16) when the Jaguars face off with Richmond in the second campus site game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off.

QUICK NOTES (click here to access the full notes for Wednesday's game):
    FIRST DUB
IUPUI got its first win of the season, picking off Eastern Illinois in the home opener on Saturday afternoon, 71-65. Camron Justice led the way with a career-high 21 points and sophomore Elyjah Goss contributed his first career double-double with 10 points, 10 boards and two blocked shots. Junior guard Grant Weatherford joined them in double-figures with a career-high 14 points on a perfect 5-of-5 day from the floor. Here are some other notes about the win over Eastern Illinois:
-IUPUI opened the game with an 8-0 run and led nearly the entire game (38 or 40 minutes). The Jaguars used a 13-0 run early in the second half to seize control of the contest and made enough free throws late to hold on.
-Neither team shot well as the two sides combined to hit 37.3% from the floor and 31 percent from three-point range.
-It marked just the third time in Gardner's tenure that IUPUI shot less than 40 percent from the floor and won a game. IUPUI was just 2-40 in those contests prior to Saturday.
-IUPUI had six different players make threes in a 7-of-25 (28 percent) effort from deep. Only Justice made more than one for the Jaguars
-Goss had the game's highest +/- rating at +20 while D.J. McCall was +16.
-The win avenged last year's 1-point road loss at Eastern Illinois and brought the Jaguars to 3-3 all-time against Eastern Illinois.

    SHARING THE WEALTH
In just two games, no IUPUI player has scored in double-figures in both games and five different players (Goss, Hansen, Justice, Minnett and Weatherford) have hit for double-digits in at least one of the two games. Both Justice and Minnett have had 20-point games and been held under 10 in the other outing.

    ROSTER TIES
Amazingly, there have been three players at IUPUI who have direct ties to the Boston College program. Mike Lunday played the 1976-77 season at BC and averaged 6.3 points and 5.4 rebounds before joining the IUPUI program for his final season. The 6-foot-2 Lunday averaged 14.6 points per game during the 1977-78 season at IUPUI.
More recently, Detroit-product Brian Ponder originally pledged his commitment to Boston College before later joining the IUPUI program. In his lone season at IUPUI, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 4.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
Last year, Mike Sagay joined the IUPUI program at the turn of the semester after playing his first season at Boston College. However, this past summer, Sagay opted to return closer to home and is now a member of Jim Calhoun's Division III University of Saint Joseph squad in West Hartford, Conn. Sagay is averaging 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in the season's opening two games.

    AGAINST THE ACC
IUPUI has exactly one win all-time against the ACC, having won at Georgia Tech on Dec. 29, 2001 by a 96-92 score.

    ONE FROM 50
Head coach Jason Gardner comes in one win shy of 50 for his coaching career. He's a far cry from the top two in program history in current Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter (275) and IUPUI Hall of Famer Bob Lovell (195). However, Gardner is just the ninth head coach in the history of the program (includes one interim) and third on the program's all-time list with 49 victories.

    700 DAYS
IUPUI junior guard Camron Justice was 700 days removed from his last competitive basketball game when the Jags took the floor against Xavier. Justice played just more than a season at Vanderbilt before joining the IUPUI program prior to last fall and sitting the full season as a transfer. Prior to Xavier, Justice last played in a game on Dec. 6, 2016 when the Commodores defeated High Point.
Justice and Evan Hall were high school teammates at Knott County Central (Ky.) High School, helping the Patriots to four straight state tournament appearances. Justice finished his high school career with 3,588 points and 393 treys before being named the 2015 Kentucky Mr. Basketball.

    OTHER NEWBIES
While Justice is nearly two full years removed from his last Division I game, others in the Jaguars' rotation are in similar spots. Junior guard Grant Weatherford has never appeared in a Division I game, despite graduating from Hamilton Heights High School in 2015. Weatherford redshirted at Purdue in 2015-16, played a full season at Midland (Texas) College in 2016-17 and sat out all of last season.

    A LOOK BACK
Last year's IUPUI team ranked among the nation's best in steals (6.8 spg) and turnovers forced (14.7 to/game). IUPUI ranked 53rd nationally in turnovers forced per game and were among the nation's best in steals percentage.
In addition, last year's squad was among the best in the country in hitting the offensive glass, grabbing 11.5 offensive caroms per game. Evan Hall ranked 102nd individually in offensive rebounding, grabbing 2.6 offensive boards per contest as a junior.

    HOT BENCH
A staple under head coach Jason Gardner has been his teams' bench scoring as the IUPUI leader likes to play 9-10 players and use his bench frequently. Gardner's teams have matched or outscored the opposition's bench in 93 of 127 games (73.2 percent), including the season's first two games.
