INDIANAPOLIS - Bowling Green's Charlie Maciejewski scored his first goal of the season with mere seconds left in the first overtime period as Bowling Green stole a wild one from IUPUI on Tuesday night (Oct. 9), 3-2 at the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium. The game featured four penalty kicks, including one in overtime, before BGSU (3-5-3) got the winner in the 100th minute.

Junior Alan Aguilar scored twice for the Jaguars, both from the penalty spot, to give him four goals in the Jaguars' (3-8-2) last three contests.

Bowling Green dominated possession, and subsequently the final offensive numbers, outshooting IUPUI 19-10 and earning a 10-3 advantage on corner kicks. However, it was Maciejewski's individual run and rocket off the underside of the crossbar that ultimately ended it.

Both teams likely walked away from Tuesday's outcome, thinking they should've gotten the win.

IUPUI went in front in the 22nd minute as Aguilar drove a penalty kick right down the middle past BGSU keeper Anthony Mwembia. The Jaguars were granted the penalty as Fernando Borges was stationed inside the 18-yard box, ready to receive a long pass from Tommy Patacca. However, Borges was driven to the ground by a BGSU defender before the ball's arrival, making for an easy call. Aguilar capitalized, scoring a goal for the third straight game to give the Jaguars an early advantage.

The lead held until BGSU finally got equal in the 64th minute as Matt Walters and Tate Robertson did the hard work, leading to an easy Chris Sullivan finish. Walters had an initial shot knocked down just inside the 18, but regained his footing possession to play it forward to Robertson. The Jaguars' defense reacted as though Robertson was in an offsides position, but the flag stayed down and the BGSU forward rolled a pass in front of IUPUI keeper Quinn McCallion to a wide open Sullivan, who scored into an open net from point blank range.

In the 70th minute, the visiting Falcons took the lead on a PK of their own. Robertson rolled the go-ahead goal past McCallion after Patacca was called for undercutting BGSU's Moe Mustafa who went high above the play trying to get on the end of a free kick. And 16 seconds later, Aguilar got his second PK score, this time after Mustafa knocked down Riley Shives, after he got on the end of a Patacca pass.

The game went to overtime and BGSU got the break it needed in the 93rd minute when a fourth PK of the night was awarded, this time to the Falcons. However, the least clearcut of the four whistles resulted in the first stop of the night as McCallion dove to his left and smothered Robertson's attempt before loudly screaming 'Let's Go!' in front of a partisan crowd stationed in the west endzone.

It was all for naught though as Maciejewski received a pass and wheeled around Rodrigo Zampieri, who was intent not to foul at the end of the 18-yard box. The loss thwarted the Jags' bid for back-to-back wins and the program's first non-conference win in two years.

IUPUI will return to Horizon League action on Saturday evening (Oct. 13) when the Jaguars take on Cleveland State at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN3.
