INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams had a strong day in the pool, winning all five dual meets the Jags competed in on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 20).
The men had two meets, taking on Western Illinois and Olivet Nazarene. The Jags beat the Leathernecks 232-66 and took down the Tigers 239-52. The women's squad won all three of their meets, beating Western Illinois (224-72), Olivet Nazarene (224-72) and Butler (220-74).
In total, the Jags won 28 of the 32 events on the afternoon, including winning all four events on the diving boards.
Allison Walker won the first individual event of the day, taking home the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 10:43.86.
Andrea Hanas earned the next win for the women with a time of 1:56.06 in the 200 yard freestyle. The women kept their winning ways going as
Tori Kroon took the 100 yard backstroke in 57.32.
The Jags swept the podium in the 200 yard butterfly with
Maureen Lingle winning the event in a time of 2:08.85. IUPUI grabbed the top four spots in the 50 yard freestyle as
Maggie Hatfield touched the wall in a time of 24.70. Hanas picked up her second win of the afternoon with a 53.37 in the 100 yard freestyle and
Mallory Buha had the top time in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:1217.
Olivia Treski cruised to a win in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.45.
Anna McCahill won the 100 yard butterfly in 59.30 and in the last women's individual event of the day, Lingle won her second event of the day with a 2:1238 in the 200 yard IM.
On the boards for the women,
Blaire Wills won the 3-meter with a score of 262.28 and
Rylee Dahlman took the 1-meter with 255.15 points.
The men started their meet with a win by
David Sweezer in the 1000 yard freestyle (9:42.33) and continued with wins by
Ben Levart in the 200 yard freestyle (1:42.31) and
Will Grintjes in the 100 yard backstroke (58.31).
Jackson Sandala posted the top time in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.29 and
Cade Anderson's time of 47.54 was the top mark in the 100 yard freestyle.
Jayden Parrett earned the win in the 200 yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:59.72 and Grintjes earned his second win of the night in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:10.15).
Sweezer swept the distance swims, taking the top spot in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 4:44.68.
Cameron Green led a Jaguar sweep of the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 51.76 and the final men's individual event of the day was the 200 yard IM won by
Kevin Lingle in a time of 1:55.71.
Krisztian Somhegyi won the men's 1-meter with a score of 314.78 and
Patrick Tener took the top spot in the men's 3-meter with 313.65 points.
The Jags swept all four relays with the men winning the 200 yard medley relay in 1:34.72 and the 400 yard freestyle relay in 3:09.02. The women won the medley relay in 1:47.67 and the freestyle relay in 3:36.54.
IUPUI will be back in action next Friday (Oct. 26) against Horizon League foe Milwaukee at 3 p.m. in the Natatorium.
