INDIANAPOLIS – After over a month off, the IUPUI swimming and diving teams are back in the pool on Friday, Dec. 5 when they host three teams to kick off the 2018 part of their schedule.
The Jags will face, Ball State, Xavier and the University of Indianapolis in three dual meets at the Natatorium with the first race starting a 6 p.m.
The last time the Jags were in the pool,
Jonathan Stoller took home first in the men's competition at the Wabash Pentathlon with a time of 4:26.73 in the five events and
Meagan Ronci won the women's competition with a time of 5:10.39.
Below are notable marks for the men's swimming team this year:
- Ben Levart set the school record in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:25.94. It is also the fastest time in that event in the Horizon League. Levart also owns the top time in Horizon in the 1,000 free (9:21.97) and the 1650 free (15:35.45).
- Mark Auger broke the men's 200 fly school record at the 2017 House of Champions and holds the top time in the conference at 1:48.43.
- Jackson Sandala has the fastest 200 free time in the Horizon League at 1:38.44 and has posted the fourth-fastest time in the Horizon in the 100 free (45.63).
- Stoller is currently third in the conference in the men's 200 breaststroke (2:01.73) and fifth in the men's 100 breaststroke (55.80). Stoller is also third in the Horizon in the 200 IM (1:51.89), followed by teammate Joshua Barajas who has a time of 1:51.92.
- John Ragsdell is second in the conference in the men's 400 IM with a time of 4:01.18 and Barajas is third with a time of 4:01.62.
- Krisztian Somhegyi owns the top mark in the Horizon in the 3M springboard with 362.63 points. Teammate Mitchell Mastey is third in the 1M springboard with 312.30 points and fourth in the league with a mark of 337.80 in the 3M springboard.
Here are notable marks for the women's swimming and diving team this season:
- Olivia Treski has her name on the tops of multiple lists in the Horizon League this season. Treski is first in the conference in the 1650 free (16:49.60), and 1000 free (10:04.34), second in the 500 free (4:55.12) and fifth in the 200 free (1:52.56).
- Mallory Buha is third in the conference in the 100 back with a time of 55.56.
- Carmen Escalante Ruiz sits in third with a time of 2:05.63 in the 200 butterfly.
- Freshman Rylee Dahlman's mark of 278.35 in the 1M springboard is second in the conference this season. Dahlman is fifth in the 3M springboard with 274.60 points.
The Jags will look to start off the second half of the season strong as they build to their first Horizon League championship on Feb. 21-24.
