DAYTON, Ohio – IUPUI women's basketball will look to continue its hot start to Horizon League play as the Jaguars will play Wright State on Sunday, Jan. 21.

After the best defensive performance of the season, IUPUI remained tied atop the Horizon League standings with a 6-1 record. The Jags held Northern Kentucky to season lows with 35 points and 23 percent shooting as IUPUI won 71-35. The Jags also held Northern Kentucky to just two points in a third quarter, a season low allowed by IUPUI.
Danielle Lawrence reached double figures for the sixth time in seven conference games, leading the Jags with 19 points.
Tamya Sims added 14 points and
Macee Williams finished with 13 points and came one rebound shy of her fourth double-double of the season.
The Jags shared the ball well against the Norse, finishing with 18 assists.
Sydney Hall tied her career-high with six assists.
Lawrence remains on top of the team lead with 16.3 points per game, good for third in the Horizon. Williams is second on the squad at 12.6 per contest.
SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE
IUPUI will take on Wright State who is tied with the Jags at 6-1 in conference play. The Raiders have rattled off six-straight conference wins after beginning league play with a loss to Green Bay.
The Raiders are led by Chelsea Welch who is the top scorer in the Horizon League at 21.9 points per game. Taylor Mackenzie (10.5) and Emily Vogelphol (10.4) also average double-digits per game. Welch is also very efficient, averaging 44.4% from the field and 42.3% from the three-point line.
The glass will be a major battle between the Jags and the Raiders as both teams hold a big advantage in that category. IUPUI holds a +7.8 rebounding margin this season while Wright State holds a +8.6 margin.
ALL TIME SERIES
Wright State holds a big advantage in the all-time series against the Jags, winning seven of the eight matchups, including the last four in the series. It has been a while since the Jags and Raiders met though, the last meeting coming in 2012, a 75-71 Wright State win in Dayton.
