IUPUI LOOKS TO REBOUND AT NORTHERN KENTUCKY FRIDAY

Jaguars start four-straight games on the road with a matchup against the Norse on Friday night.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The IUPUI women's basketball team will look to rebound from a tough loss at home to No. 23/22 Green Bay as they begin a stretch of four-straight on the road when the Jags take on Northern Kentucky on Friday (Jan. 19).

The game against the Norse can be heard on IUPUIJags.com with Scott Agness on the call and will also be broadcast on ESPN3.
IUPUI (13-4, 5-1 Horizon) lost its first conference game of the season to Green Bay while being held to a season low in points (34) and field goal percentage (25%) by the nation's best defense. Danielle Lawrence was the only Jaguar to reach double-figure, finishing with 12 points.

Lawrence leads the team in scoring and is third in the Horizon League with 16.1 points per game and the Jags will look to get back in to their offensive groove against Northern Kentucky. The Jags still lead the Horizon in field goal percentage, hitting 44.9 percent of their shots. IUPUI is also the second-highest scoring team in the league at 72.7 points per game.

After Lawrence, freshman Macee Williams is having a stellar year, scoring 12.5 points per game and a team-leading 7.7 rebounds. Sydney Hall is third on the team in scoring at 9.9 points per game and is the leader with 34 made threes on 37.8% shooting from behind the arc. Tamya Sims is scoring 9.4 per contest and is the leader in blocks on the team with 17.

The defense still remains solid for the Jags as they sit in third in scoring defense, giving up 59.7 points per game and are tied for fourth in rebounds per contest at 38.2. IUPUI is also second in the Horizon League in steals at 9.2 per game, led by Williams and Lawrence who had 27 on the season. Jenna Gunn3 is right behind with 26 steals on the year.

SCOUTING NORTHERN KENTUCKY
The Jags next game is against the only Horizon League team to hand Green Bay a loss this season as the Northern Kentucky Norse come in to the matchup with a 4-13 overall record and a 2-4 mark in conference play.

Northern Kentucky is riding a three-game losing streak, falling by five points in both of their last two games. The Norse have struggled putting the ball in the basket, averaging a Horizon League low 60.1 points per game, but have played tight games all season as the defense is only allowing opponents to score 60.7. The Norse also sit in eighth in the conference in turnover margin at -3.20.

Molly Glick is the only player for Northern Kentucky scoring in double-figures as she is averaging 12.8 points per game. After Glick, Kailey Coffey is scoring 9.5 a contest and Samari Mowbray is scoring 8.6 per game.

ALL-TIME SERIES
IUPUI and Northern Kentucky have met 19 times with the Norse holding an 18-1 lead over the Jags. All but two of those matchups came before IUPUI became a Division I program in 1998. Since IUPUI transitioned, they have met Northern Kentucky twice with each team winning at home. Northern Kentucky won the last meeting 57-43 on Dec. 30, 2014.

QUOTABLE
"Northern Kentucky is a hard-nosed, well-coached team who plays really well at home," said Parkinson. "They like to change defenses and have done a good job of getting to the foul line."
