INDIANAPOLIS – After a lengthy year of competition and substantial strides made on both sides, the IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams will take part in the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships, set to be hosted in the IUPUI Natatorium beginning Wednesday (Feb. 15) and continuing through Saturday (Feb. 18).

The four-day event will begin with the women's three-meter diving prelims Wednesday at 4 p.m. EST.  Featuring the elite of the Summit League, seven teams will take part in the championships, including Denver, who is currently just a few votes outside of the CSCAA top-25 rankings for all Division I programs.  The Jags feature four male and three female student-athletes who rank among the League's top-five in 10 events.

Returning from last season, Krisztian Somhegyi is the reigning Summit League Diving MVP and currently owns the highest score amongst all divers in the Summit League in the men's one-meter and three-meter springboard events.  Senior Lennart Kuester owns eight records at IUPUI currently, six of which were set during the 2016 Summit League Championships.  Newcomer Olivia Treski has established four new program records in multiple freestyle events for IUPUI this season, recording new top marks in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 Free.  Maranda Buha holds five records at IUPUI, all of which were set in last season's championships.

The Jags will have 10 seniors competing in potentially their final events, as Kuester and Buha will be joined by Jared Allen, Joshua Garmon, Garrett Goff, Landan Mintch, Matt Stowe, Melissa Berger, Brittani Grove, and Bailey Wills.

This season, the two programs have combined for a 14-5 record in dual-meet competition, as the teams secured a second-place finish in the 2016 House of Champions.  The men's and women's teams took second and fourth place in last year's championships, respectively.

With the exception of the 4 p.m. start time Wednesday, the three other days of competition will feature two sessions; the morning preliminary session beginning at 10 a.m., followed by a 6 p.m. evening session for the finals in each event.
