STATESBORO, Ga. – IUPUI is on game two of a season-high six game road trip when the Jags take on Georgia Southern on Monday, Dec. 18. It will be the first time since 2010 that IUPUI will play a game in the state of Georgia.

The Jags come in to the game having not played since Dec. 10, when the Jags beat Tennessee Tech. In the game against the Golden Eagles, the Jags trailed for the first time in a game they won, falling behind 2-0 before jumping out to a 17-4 lead halfway through the first quarter. IUPUI was led by Tamya Sims and Jenna Gunn who each scored 14 points. Danielle Lawrence scored 13 points and hit double-digits for the eighth time this season. Sydney Hall reached double-figures for the first time in five games with 11.

The game against Tennessee Tech was one of the best games of the season for Gunn who shot 7-for-8 from the field, led the team with five assists and was tied for the team lead with four rebounds. Gunn also added two steals.

For the season, Lawrence leads the squad with 18.8 points per game, which is third in the Horizon League. Lawrence leads the team in three-pointers made with 20 and is shooting 37 percent from deep. She is also second on the team with 20 assists, trailing Gunn who has 26.

On the defensive end, Lawrence is tied with freshman Macee Williams who each have 17 steals. Williams is also the leading rebounder for the Jags at 7.4 per game and is third on the team with 10.1 points per game. Sims is second on the squad averaging 10.6 points per contest.

Fast starts have been key for the Jags, who are outscoring their opponents 202-105 in the first quarter. In the second frame the Jags also hold the scoring edge, 158-120.

IUPUI is averaging 72.9 points per game and doing it efficiently, shooting over 45 percent from the field as a team. Williams owns the top shooting percentage in the Horizon, shooting 61 percent.

The Jags hold the statistical advantage in all of the margins out-rebounding opponents by 4.9 per game and winning the turnover battle by five.

SCOUTING GEORGIA SOUTHERN – Georgia Southern (3-5) will take on Kennesaw State on Friday (Dec. 15) before taking on IUPUI on Monday (Dec. 18). Scoring has been hard to come by for the Eagles who are being outscored by 9.7 points per game. The Eagles have really struggled coming out of halftime as opponents have outscored Georgia Southern 173-107 in the third quarter. Nakol Franks leads the team with 8.1 points per game followed by Alexis Foulks (7.9) and Rhein Beamon (7.4). The Eagles are only shooting 34 percent from the field and struggling from behind the three-point line, shooting 25 percent.

On the defensive end, Georgia Southeren is allowing opponents to shoot 40 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range. The Eagles are being out-rebounded by more than five rebounds per game and the turnover battle has been even with Georgia Southern losing the battle by 0.4 turnovers per contest.

ALL-TIME SERIES – This is just the second time the Jags and Golden Eagles have faced each other with IUPUI coming out on top last season in Indianapolis with an 83-57 win.
