INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI Lady Jags begin their 2017-18 home schedule with a game against Georgetown (Ky.). The game will start at five and be part of a double-header at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
IUPUI (1-0) is coming off of a season-opening win at Northern Iowa. The Jags beat the Panthers 54-48 with
Sydney Hall leading the way with 16 points. Newcomers
Tamya Sims and
Macee Williams each had 11 points and Williams was one rebound shy of a double-double in her first collegiate game finishing with nine.
Danielle Lawrence was the other Jaguar to finish in double-figures posting 10 points.
The Jags defense stifled the Panthers, holding Northern Iowa to 35 percent shooting and forcing 20 turnovers. IUPUI finished the game with 11 steals, led by Hall and Williams who each finished with three. Sims led the Jags with five blocks on the night.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN (KY.) – The Tigers come in to the game with a 2-2 record on the season and won their last game 109-34 over Johnson University. Georgetown have five players finish in double-figures in the win with Justus Martin leading the way with 19. Kaci Currens was second on the team with 18 points and forced Johnson University in to 25 percent shooting for the game.
ALL-TIME SERIES – This is the second time in school history that IUPUI has played Georgetown College. The only other meeting was in 1985 and Georgetown came away with a win.
NEXT TIME OUT – The Jags will play their first regular season home game at the Jungle on Friday, Nov. 17 when the Jags will play host to Indiana State.
