INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams will have a busy weekend (Jan. 20-21) in their final action of the regular season prior to the start of the Summit League Championships. The men's team is set to host Wabash Friday (6 p.m.), before both teams will host Notre Dame Saturday (2 p.m.). The women's side will also face Indiana State in the Saturday dual-meet.
In what has been a decorated and accomplished season so far, the men's and women's teams have combined for a 12-3 dual-meet record, as the men have led the way with a 6-1 showing. Both teams shared a loss in a dual with Cincinnati, as the women recently fell in scoring finals to Ball State. That same day, the women's team defeated Xavier 136-101.
Several notable performances have highlighted the season for IUPUI, as
Olivia Treski has picked up three Summit League Swimmer of the Week awards while setting four new program records. Jon Ragsdell was twice named the men's Swimmer of the Week, as the freshman standout has also set a pair of IUPUI records.
David Sweezer also pulled in his first Swimmer of the Week award after a strong showing against Ball State.
From the diving well,
Krisztian Somhegyi has been named the Summit League Diver of the Week an incredible six times already this season, as the sophomore has launched to new success during the 2016-17 season. He shattered the old men's three-meter springboard record, and has been absolutely stellar in the men's platform event as well. He is the reigning Summit League Diving MVP, and has already qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships in the one-meter, three-meter and platform.
Melissa Berger was twice named the women's Diver of the Week, and has also qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships in the one-meter.
