OXFORD, Ohio – After raising the bar on themselves with a huge win for a rising program, the IUPUI women's basketball team (6-1) will return to the road Wednesday (Dec. 7) as the team will head east and do battle with Miami (2-6) at 7 p.m. EST in Oxford.  The game will air on ESPN3, as the Jags will have an opportunity to get off to the best start in program history with another win.

On the year, the Jags are averaging more than 70 points-per-game, while limiting the opposition to 55.3 points.  The team is shooting .448 and have strung together a number of stellar defensive performances, keeping their opponents to an average .384 clip.  They also average 4.0 blocks-per-contest, as Mikale Rogers leads the team and the entire Summit League with 19 blocks.  She's averaging 13.7 points and 7.7 boards while picking up her first Summit League Player of the Week award this season after keying the Jags to a pair of wins over Indiana State and Missouri.  Danielle Lawrence leads the team with 14.0 points-per-game, while Sydney Hall also averages in double-figures, tallying 11.4 points.  Holly Hoopingarner has been one of the most efficient shooters this season in the entire Summit League, as her .568 field-goal percentage ranks third in the League, in addition to her League-leading .563 percentage from three-point range.

Fresh off a 28-point victory over Missouri, the Jags made history by defeating their first SEC opponent in program history.  The win pushed them to six wins in-a-row, and has the team tied for their best start to a season.  Lawrence led the Jags in that game, tallying 24 points, three steals and a pair of boards.  Rogers added 15 points, six rebounds and a block, while Hoopingarner picked up 11 points on a 5-for-6 afternoon.

The Redhawks sport a 2-5 record this season, having most recently lost to Indiana State, 54-62.  The Jags defeated Indiana State 45-35 Nov. 30.  Stuck in the midst of a five-game losing streak, the Redhawks last won against Northern Kentucky (Nov. 15), in which the team came out on top 60-50.  The team is shooting just .333 from the field, and have been cold from long range, averaging a .289 clip.  Despite the losses, they've limited their turnovers to 13.4 per game, and own a +1.9 turnover margin on the year.  The team features only three players that have started every game, as the Jags have had the same starting lineup since the beginning of the season.  Seven players have made starts this season, as the team features 10 players who average double-digit minutes this year.  A balanced group, only one player, Lauren Dickerson, is averaging double-digit points (13.1), and only one player is shooting above .400 (Jazz Smith - .419).

In their limited history against one-another, the Jags have never defeated the Redhawks, going 0-3.  The teams met for the first time in during the 2006-07 season, in which the Jags were defeated 79-87 in the high-scoring affair.  A year later, the teams faced each other twice; first as part of the Preseason WNIT, followed by a single game matchup later in the year.  Their last meeting was Dec. 19, 2007, in which Miami was victorious, 56-77.

The Jags broke into the CollegeInsider Top-25 Mid-Major poll this past week, ranking 24th and becoming the third Summit League program to make it into the rankings.  South Dakota State is the top-ranked mid-major, followed by South Dakota at 12th.
