INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off a fruitful road trip in which the team netted a pair of wins against tough opponents, the IUPUI women's basketball team (3-1) will make its way back to the Jungle Saturday afternoon (Nov. 26), as the Jags host Georgia Southern (2-3) at 2 p.m. EST.  The home game will mark the final contest for the Jags at home during the month of November.

Receiving contributions from all around, the Jags have had three different players as their leading scorers through four contests.  Danielle Lawrence leads the team with a 14.3 points-per-game average, also logging 3.5 rebounds-per-game and dishing 13 assists.  Mikale Rogers is nearly at double-double efficiency, averaging 13.0 points and 9.0 boards.  Jenna Gunn also averages nine boards each contest, contributing 8.8 points in the process.  Sydney Hall and Caitlyn Tolen are both scoring in double-digits so far, logging 13.3 and 10.5 points, respectively.

As a team, the Jags are averaging .451 from the field, limiting opponents to a .397 clip.  The Jags average 6.2 more rebounds than their opposition, while also shooting an efficient .768 from the free-throw line.

Matching up with another opponent the Jags have not seen in previous seasons, Georgia Southern ventures to the Jungle after picking up wins over North Carolina A&T (Nov. 11) and Thomas University (Nov. 13).  Since starting the season 2-0, the Eagles have lost three-straight, with losses coming against Clemson, Jacksonville State and Alabama.  A member of the Sun Belt Conference, the Eagles finished the 2015-16 season 7-22, including a 4-16 mark in conference-play.  That year, the team dropped its final eight contests, and saw the loss of two seniors while adding five freshman this season.  The team last posted a winning-season during the 2009-10 season, when the Eagles went 19-12 and advanced to the second round of the then-Southern Conference.  The team averages 64.2 points-per-game this year on a .411 clip, while averaging 18.0 turnovers per contest.  The Jags average 18.25.

A team that has regularly gotten off to fast starts, the Eagles have outscored opponents 103-72 in the first quarter this year, but trail in the fourth quarter, 61-91.

The Jags are fresh off a hard-fought victory over Virginia Commonwealth, in which IUPUI trailed at halftime and overcame a buzzer-beating three-point shot at the end of regulation by the Rams that forced overtime.  In that game, the Jags saw Hall light it up for seven three-pointers, including a pair in overtime before the sophomore standout fouled out in the extended time.  Lawrence finished with a game-high 24 points, while Gunn and Rogers both nabbed 13 rebounds.

Early-season highlights already include Head Coach Austin Parkinson setting the all-time program record for most wins with his 98th, coming against Illinois-Chicago and surpassing Kris Simpson who finished with 97 in nine seasons.  In his seventh season with the Jags, Coach Parkinson logged his 99th win in the victory over VCU, and will look to reach the century mark against the Eagles.

The game will be featured on IUPUI Live! and will have video coverage available for free on the home of the Jags.  A link to the broadcast can be found HERE.
