@IUPUILADYJAGS, FLAMES SET TO DO BATTLE IN CHICAGO

The Jags make the trek out to Chicago for their first ever meeting with UIC.

Live Audio Watch on ESPN3

CHICAGO, Ill. – A chance to potentially make history Saturday (Nov. 19), the IUPUI women's basketball team (2-1) and Head Coach Austin Parkinson will venture to the Windy City to take on Illinois-Chicago (1-1) at 3 p.m. EST.  Currently at 97 wins for his career, Coach Parkinson needs just one win to become the all-time program leader at IUPUI.  The game will be carried on ESPN3 and live audio play-by-play will be available on IUPUIJags.com.

Coming off their first victory of the new season, the Jags have been led this year by Danielle Lawrence and Holly Hoopingarner, who have 31 and 30 points, respectively, through two contests.  Mikale Rogers leads the team with 16 rebounds, picking up 21 points so far.  Currently, five players are averaging double-digit points through the pair of games.

The Jags started off the season with a narrow loss to the 19th-ranked mid-major program in the nation, as IUPUI was dropped late by Northern Iowa.  The Jags rallied in that game from a 10-point half-time deficit to actually lead in the third quarter, only to fall behind on a late surge from the Panthers.  The team would rebound with a blowout victory over Oakland City Wednesday (Nov. 16), leading by 20 points after the first quarter alone and eventually cruising to a 95-62 win.

The Flames picked up their first win in the season opener, topping Lake Forest in a lopsided affair, 84-48.  They followed that with a home loss to their foes from the south, Illinois State, dropping the game 52-59 before battling to a win against Robert Morris (Nov. 17).  The meeting with IUPUI marks the first time in program history these two teams will compete against one another.  Last season, the Flames finished 12-18 overall while going 3-15 in Horizon League play.

Parkinson is on the cusp of capturing the all-time wins record in just his seventh season at IUPUI.  The current record holder is former coach Kris Simpson, who coached nine seasons with the Jags.  Since taking over the program, Parkinson has led the Jags to three Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) appearances in four years, the only such appearances for the Jags.
