JAGS TO TAKE ON FORT WAYNE IN SUMMIT ROAD CONTEST

IUPUI to take on Mastodons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night (Oct. 7)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IUPUI women's soccer team will hit the road for the first time in Summit League play on Friday night (Oct. 7) when the Jaguars face Fort Wayne at Hefner Soccer Complex. The Jags opened Summit League play with a 2-0 win over South Dakota before stumbling to Denver by a 2-1 count two days later.

The Jags are fourth in The Summit heading into the weekend, trailing undefeated North Dakota State (2-0), Denver (2-0) and South Dakota State (1-0). The Jags three goals in Summit League play are tied for the league-high and the program's 24 goals this season are tops in the conference.

LAST TIME OUT

IUPUI dropped a 2-1 decision to Denver in Summit League play at the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 2. The Jags fell behind by two goals early in the second half, but cut the lead in half when Catherine Raster tallied her team-high seventh goal of the year, thanks to assists from Hayley Shelton and Krissy Kirkhoff

QUOTABLE

"There's so many different levels of disappointment in what happened out here. We came out fast, which is something we haven't done very much this year. I was very proud of the girls in how they came out of the gate, but we've got to finish opportunities. We've got to be able to protect the home turf in conference play, so now we've got to go out and get a couple wins on the road where it'll be tougher places to play. We've got to get points on the road and find a way to make that happen," said IUPUI Head Coach Chris Johnson after Sunday's 2-1 loss to Denver.

11 AND COUNTING

The IUPUI women's soccer team was honored with the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for posting a grade point average of at least 3.0 for 2015-16. Head Coach Chris Johnson's team posted an incredible 3.55 GPA last year and it was the eighth straight year the program was honored.
