JAGS' SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE IN FARGO

Needing a win, Jags fall to North Dakota State, 2-0

FARGO, N.D. - In need to a win to extend the season, the IUPUI women's soccer team found the road and the host North Dakota State Bison too much as the Jaguars were upended, 2-0 at Dacotah Field on Sunday (Oct. 30). The game was scoreless until the Bison scored in both the 73rd and 78th minutes.

IUPUI's season ends at 9-7-3 overall and 3-3-2 in Summit League play while NDSU improved to 10-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in eight league games, earning a share of the league's regular season title. The Bison will now host The Summit League Tournament on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5.

The Jaguars' best scoring chance of the day came in the 22nd minute when junior forward Krissy Kirkhoff pinged the post on an attempt she got past NDSU goalie Monica Polgar.

The second half saw NDSU come out of the offensive, but the Jaguars defense refused to bend before finally tipping the field later in the half. However, the hosts went ahead in the 73rd minute when Britney Monteon scored from in close off a feed from Holly Enderle.

The verdict was ultimately decided in the 78th minute when Lizzie Lukas took advantage of a bad clearance and got a shot past junior Catherine Schmidt for the game's final score.

IUPUI was unable to muster a shot in the final 17-plus minutes on a day in which the Jags were outshot 17-7 overall. Senior Catherine Raster attempted a team-high three shots in her final collegiate contest and Kirkhoff had two attempts, both before halftime.

Schmidt recorded six saves in a full 90 minutes of work.

The defeat marked the end for a stellar senior class consisting of Samantha Bathurst, Sierra Bryant, Alyssa Fox, Carley Lombard, Tori Minnich, Maddie Riedford and Raster.
