JAGS TO CLOSE REGULAR SEASON WITH TWO SUMMIT LEAGUE MATCHES

IUPUI will face South Dakota State on Friday (Oct. 28) and North Dakota State on Sunday (Oct. 30)

BROOKINGS, S.D. - Still chasing a spot in the four-team Summit League Tournament, the IUPUI women's soccer team will hit the road for a pair of league matches to cap the regular season. IUPUI will take on South Dakota State at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on Friday (Oct. 28) and cap the regular season at North Dakota State at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on Sunday (Oct. 30). 

Entering the weekend, South Dakota State is atop The Summit League standings at 5-2 (15 points) while North Dakota State is No. 2 at 4-2-1 (13 points). The Jags come into the weekend at No. 6 in the standings at 2-2-2 in Summit League play (8 points).

IUPUI also trails Oral Roberts (12 points), Denver (10 points) and Omaha (10 points) in the standings. 

LAST TIME OUT
   
IUPUI collected a much needed 2-0 win over Western Illinois as senior Tori Minnich tallied the game-winner in the 52nd minute and added insurance by assisting Maryna Clark's first goal of the season in the 73rd minute. 
    Junior Leia Peterman played a long ball forward to Minnich to set up the winner before Minnich fended off a defender and flared a shot over the WIU keeper for her team-high eighth goal of the season. 
    Both Minnich and Sierra Bryant assisted on Clark's score.     
    Junior goalie Catherine Schmidt collected her third shutout of the season (7th of her career) by making three saves against the Leathernecks. IUPUI outshot WIU 15-6 overall and 7-3 on frame. 

11 AND COUNTING
   
The IUPUI women's soccer team was honored with the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for posting a grade point average of at least 3.0 for 2015-16. Johnson's team posted an incredible 3.55 GPA last year and it was the eighth straight year the program was honored.

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA STATE (10-6-1 overall, 5-2 Summit)
   
South Dakota State is 10-6-1 overall and 5-2 in Summit League play. The Jackrabbits are 6-2-1 on their home field this season. 
    Nicole Hatcher leads SDSU offensively with a team-high six goals and eight assists and Tori Poole has netted five goals. Collectively, SDSU has outscored opponents 28-12 for the season and outshot foes, 202-181. 
    The duo of Maggie Smither and Nicole Inskeep have split time in net with Smither having a 0.26 goals against average and 7-1-1 record with 30 saves. Inskeep has a 1.02 GAA and 20 saves in 17 appearances. 

SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA STATE (9-7-1 overall, 4-2-1 Summit)
    
North Dakota State is 9-7-1 overall and 4-2-1 in Summit League play. The Bison are 3-3-1 at home this year with wins over Northern Iowa, Jamestown and Western Illinois. 
    Holly Enderle leads NDSU with 10 goals and 21 points while both Amy Yang and Mariah Haberle have a team-high six assists. As a team, NDSU has outscored opponents by a 31-19 margin and attempted 211 shots to their opponents' 197. 
    Monica Polgar has played the bulk of the team's minutes in goal with a 1.30 goals against average and 53 saves in 15 starts. She's posted an 8-7-0 record and five shutouts overall. 
    
INSIDE THE SERIES
    IUPUI is 2-8-2 all-time against SDSU and 4-8 against North Dakota State.
    IUPUI has only won at SDSU one time - a 4-1 victory over the Jacks in the 2009 Summit League Championship game. The Jags are 0-5 all-time at North Dakota State. 

NEXT UP
    IUPUI will have to finish in the top four to earn a spot in The Summit League Tournament to be held in Fargo, N.D., on Nov. 3-5.
